As Lucinda commented on BBC Radio recently, there is a serious message behind this story. Men’s relationship with clothes is changing; it is moving from passive to active. In the past men have been content with a passive role, happily wearing clothes bought for them by their wives or girlfriends. Men have now woken up to the idea that they need to take their appearance more seriously and are thinking about clothes by themselves. As a result, they are demanding more, in terms of quality and choice.
The difficulty is that men do not know where to start which is why they are seeking image advice. Help can be given on what look to go for and how to put it together. Men are now thinking about what message they want to send out and how to create it, and this starts from the very moment they reach for the underwear drawer…and put on their pants.
